Offline POS

A POS that works offline: what keeps working and what waits

When the line goes down mid-service, what matters is carrying on taking orders and payment. This is exactly what MZPoS does offline, and what it does not.

Orders and tables

Waiters keep taking orders from the menu saved on their device, open and close tables, and the order is saved to be sent as soon as the connection returns.

Taking payment offline

You can take cash payments and open, move and close the till. The receipt handed over is marked PROVISIONAL and has no QR code: the VERI*FACTU simplified invoice is issued, in sequence, when the sale reaches the server.

Kitchen

The kitchen screen keeps showing the orders it already had and those taken on that same device. Pending kitchen tickets print when the connection returns, marked as delayed with the real time.

When the internet comes back

Everything done offline is sent automatically, in the order it was done, within seconds. If something cannot be applied, it appears in a notice with the reason, to retry or discard: nothing is lost silently, and nothing is duplicated.

Lock instead of signing out

Without internet nobody can sign in again, so MZPoS offers to lock the screen instead of signing out. The same person unlocks it with their password.

MZPoS Hub: tablets stay connected

With the MZPoS Hub switched on on the counter computer (Windows app), that computer serves MZPoS to the tablets over the venue's Wi-Fi: the kitchen sees what waiters order within seconds, even with no internet. Tablets open at the address shown in the Hub panel itself.

What waits for the connection

Without the Hub, devices do not see each other: what one tablet takes reaches the others when the connection returns. Reports, admin and bookings show as they were but cannot be changed until then.

Our advice: a 4G router

Most outages are the line, not the area. A router that switches to mobile data on its own turns a forty-minute outage into a few seconds, and needs no software.

Who it is for

Useful if

  • Your connection drops from time to time
  • You work terraces, fairs or a food truck
  • You have lost sales to a till that froze
  • You want to know what happens before it happens

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to prepare anything?

Yes, once: each device must have opened MZPoS with a connection and with someone signed in. After that it saves the menu, tables and printing rules on its own every few minutes.

Can I take card payments without internet?

The payment is recorded on the device and sent when the connection returns. Whether the card terminal accepts the card without internet depends on the terminal and your bank.

Can offline payments be switched off?

Yes, per device, in the hardware settings.

Shall we look at it with your business in front of us?

Pick a plan, activate your first device, and start serving.
